The NVIDIA Shield tablet was launched last year starting at $299 (Rs. 19,000), however, the company was forced to recall some the Shield tablet in the U.S for posing a fire hazard due to overheating batteries. Now NVIDIA has outed an updated version of the tablet as Shield Tablet K1 with minor changes that include silicon grips, that will make it easier to hold the tablet and a new battery.
Unlike its predecessor, the slot for the stylus have been removed and is available as an optional accessory. There is no LTE version this time, so you only get the WiFi version. Also, the new Sheild Tablet does not include a charger or an adapter which is part of the measure to keep the price low. The specs remain unchanged.
The NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1 is priced at $199 (Rs. 13,000) and is now available in the U.S, Canada and select European countries (£149.99). In the U.S it is available at shield.nvidia.com, Amazon, BestBuy.com and Newegg. Accessories for the tablet are the Shield DirectStylus 2 ($19.99), Shield World Charger ($29.99), Shield magnetic keyboard cover ($39.99), and the Shield Controller ($59.99).
